New Mexico folk traditions, old and new, will take center stage during an afternoon of captivating music at ¡¡Música del Corazón, A Celebration of Nuevo Mexicano Music!! The annual John D. Robb, Jr., Concert will begin at 3 p.m. Oct. 4 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, 1701 4th St. SW in Albuquerque. Preceding the concert, at 2:15 p.m., Guest Curator Enrique Lamadrid will share his deep knowledge of the state's rich musical traditions in global context in a pre-concert talk. Also at 2:15 p.m., Sylvia Ernestina Vergara will present a pre-concert demonstration of Spanish-Colonial dances that have been popular in New Mexico for centuries.

• Venerable New Mexico guitarist Frank McCulloch will bring his favorite melodies;
• Los Martínez. Rob and his brother, National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellow Lorenzo Martínez, with special guest Lorenzo, Jr., will present folk and mariachi music;
• Dueto Alegre. The energetic couple from Villanueva, Ramón and Lydia Saiz, will perform popular and folk tunes;   
• Familia Ruiz. Chuy Martinez and Oti Ruiz will be joined by the Ruiz family to perform a selection of Mexican melodies from Veracruz.
• The event is being presented by the UNM John Donald Robb Musical Trust and the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
