Composer Michael Mauldin Makes Classroom Visits

One of the UNM Robb Trust's newest projects is to bring a living, practicing composer into classrooms to talk to students about his own career as a composer, and how his life and musical career were influenced by John Donald Robb. Composer Michael Mauldin will visit with Albuquerque Public School students in selected middle schools to have conversations with them about Robb's contribution to the Hispanic community and culture through collecting and preserving folk songs which would have disappeared without his efforts and Robb's use of the folk material in his own compositions. Mr. Mauldin is a pianist, conductor (Albuquerque Boys' Choir for many years), and published composer.

Educational Outreach for the UNM John Donald Robb Musical Trust offers scholars, students, and the general public the opportunity to explore and study folk music of the Southwest and the music and legacy of John Donald Robb, as well as the dissemination of the results to new audiences. The Trust initiates the development of programs and materials and collaborations with presenters to spread information about the legacy and music of John Robb.
