30th Anniversary Celebration: November 1411/11/2019Join us on November 14 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center for a screening of the NMPBS documentary ¡Colores! Join us on November 14 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center for a screening of the NMPBS documentary ¡Colores! The Musical Adventures of John Donald Robb in New Mexico. This documentary describes Robb's quest to record and preserve more than 3,000 New Mexican folk, most of which had never been recorded and some of which were hundreds of years old. His collection is in the Center for Southwest Research Archives. By screening this documentary, we want to honor Robb's work and continue his legacy of scholarship and dedication to música del corazón, the people's music. This will be followed by a live performance of excerpts from Robb's opera Joy Comes to Deadhorse, which was the precursor to Tom Jones' Broadway hit The Fantasticks. This will be performed by the New Mexico Performing Arts Society under the direction Franz Vote. Be sure to stick around afterward for desserts! From right to left: Eddie Snapp, John D. Robb, and Tom Jones,
