Del Sol Quartet Joins Composers’ Symposium

The Del Sol String Quartet, a boundary-breaking chamber ensemble, will be in residence at the 2012 John Donald Robb Composers’ Symposium, which will take place from Sunday March 25-Wednesday March 28. In addition to performing in several concerts, the musicians will present master classes for UNM students. Their educational interests are especially focused on connections between composers and string players.

The San Francisco-based quartet is a two-time winner of the top Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. The musicians enjoy exploring classical music in new ways, often introducing new music with a global pulse.

The high-energy Del Sol Quartet has been critically acclaimed as “steeped in bravery and imagination.” The group commissions and performs accessible new music from the brightest living voices around the world. Many of the group’s captivating performances include innovative collaborations with electronica and traditional instruments from other cultures – Asian, Latin American and indigenous Australian. Del Sol also has astounded audiences with one-of-a-kind multimedia dance, video and opera productions.
